Hi guys,
Excuse me for posting in English, but I don't know Dutch. My questions in the end.
I have bought a DAF YA 126 as an investment, but mainly because I took a look at it and was in love.
As an investment, it was intended that when I would sell it it would be more valuable and that is how I still think.
Knowing the prices that were asked, I knowingly chose to buy it for the asked price (without arguing it) that was €25k.
Currently I won't sell it for less than €200k -€300k that I think is its real value.
I have other classic cars and usually I buy with an eye on the future and the possible profit. If not sold by me it will be by my son or grandson and it has to be something that increases in value. As an example, I bought a rebuilt Defender 9 seats when the prices were around €20k to €40k and the month after prices jumped and have been high since then. You can't buy it now (with 9 seats and rebuilt as this one) for less than €120k and I had plenty of random guys in the street wanting to buy and making offers. Another example is a Ford Taunus 17M (P5) that I bought for €700 and is now sold at €15K to 25k.
I think the owners of DAF YA 126 are giving away the cars and I can't understand why it is?!!!
If this remains at current prices, I will probably end up buying a few more, but it blows my mind, really!...
The DAF YA 126 is a rare classic car. They are almost 70 years old and they were what one could consider a limited edition (model by model and year by year). Some models are less than 600 units!
It is a car that has plenty seats and pays no yearly tax (as a classic), doesn't require a seat-belt and is driven with normal driving licences.
It is sexy as hell. It is rare.
How is it possible that you guys are losing millions, selling it at the current prices??!! Really unbelievable! It is the price of a TV set or less in case of some units...
Sorry for my outburst but that is my question:
- How are the owners of the DAF YA 126 giving the cars away? Don't they like money?
Thanks and cheers from Portugal!
mike

I don't understand your "numbers"? bought it for € 25K selling for € 200k - € 300K ? you mean € 25000,-- selling for € 200.000 - € 300.000,-- ??Hi guys,

Re: DAF YA 126 - Selling Prices
Hi Kees64,
Yes, you understood correctly.
I bought it for €25000 and won't sell it for less than €200000 to €300000 that I think is the correct value.
But I can tell you that after I bought it and in 6 months I had my money back with a few tourism jobs.
Like said, besides being a classic it is a rare vehicle and with a body that has a very sexy appearance or aesthetics. On the other hand, it is multi functions and possible to be not only a classic but also a working vehicle (tourism and a few other activities). It only needs a normal license to be driven, has plenty of seats and no use of seat-belts required as a classic. A few other characteristics make it very rare to find something similar anywhere. Plus, it was a limited edition from the start and right now less than half may be operating or rebuilt.
That is my question... Please don't be offended but why do you guys sell the cars so cheap? It's like giving them away. I really don't understand...
I have noticed that it's not with the DAF YA 126 but also other DAFs...
You guys are losing millions. Why is that? I can't figure it out.

Eventually it will be at the right price to be sold, even if by him in 20/30 years...
Even if it existed 10 or 20 of them here it would be sold at the right price.
And there are always other business opportunities, so not worried.

Re: DAF YA 126 - Selling Prices
